Amy Sue had surgery on March 26th and the neurosurgeon placed a permanent shunt and placed Amy's bone (skull) back into her head.  We are on the road to recovery now and are hoping to go to Brooks Rehab in Jacksonville for at least a few weeks.  Then Amy will return home!  God Bless all of you for your support. I could not begin to list everyone who has given us support and love, so please know I am grateful to each and everyone of you!!! Sue (amy's mom)

http://www.tbirecovery.org/LongTermPhase.html  This web site gives information on severe brain trauma and talks about the "brain" neuro storms ... if interested check it out!

Thank you everyone for your love and support!

Just wanted to update everyone on our last week in Orlando.  Amy Sue is currently off the ventilator and breathing on her own with a trach collar.  She is having neurological "brain storms" and has periods of increased heart rate, increased breathing, and rigid muscles.  She has been slowly getting weaned off methadone and valium.  She appears to be having some withdrawal symptoms and with the brain storms it is hard to determine which one is affecting her.  She looks much better with the road rash wounds healing up nicely and not having a ventilator in her mouth.  She is getting fed with a G-tube with Pedisure and so her weight is remaining stable so far.  She is scheduled for a CT scan of her head on Sunday. Amy is still in pediatric intensive care.  She has a few more surgeries scheduled for sometime in the next month.

The kids and I are back in Edgewater for the weekend.  Lauren and Noah are spending most of the weekend with their friends and I am just taking a much needed break!  We are so very thankful to each and everyone one of you for your prayers and kindness!  God Bless you all!  Sue

Update from Sue

This is an update from Sue from this morning:

Good Morning! Amy had an EEG (brain activity test) done last night ...results today. She has had a few negative spinal fluid tests :) so the infection appears to be clearing! She is also starting to breath some on her own with just the trach collar (CPAP) at night time but it is definitely an improvement. They are starting to wean her off her pain medication very slowly over next month.

At this time we are planning on being in Orlando for approximately one month (could vary) we are staying at the Ronald McDonald House which is fantastic!
